Baghdad hosted the Arab Media Congress from 21 to 23 May 2025 under the central theme “The role of media in addressing climate change”.
The event brought together members of the Arab States Broadcasting Union as well as major international partners and sister broadcasting unions.
The opening ceremony included representatives of the International Telecommunication Union, the African Development Bank, the African Union of Broadcasting, the European Broadcasting Union and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.
Discussions focused on the role of media in public awareness, dissemination of scientific information and citizen mobilisation in response to the climate emergency.
The Congress also examined partnerships between media organisations and international institutions, turning Baghdad into a strategic forum for reflection on global climate challenges and the influence of media in the ecological transition.
